How do I recover a battery after a BMS low-voltage disconnect?
Recover it by removing the load, then applying charge in the manner the manufacturer specifies, which for some products requires a particular sequence or a reset. Do not simply reconnect a heavy charger to a pack that has protected on low voltage without reading the procedure. Treat warmth as excess resistance or excess current and find which. Compare the warm connection's temperature against others carrying similar current, check the terminal is torqued to specification and free of corrosion, and recalculate whether the conductor is adequate for the current that circuit now carries. How do I work out why my inverter cuts out?
Determine which device is actually cutting out: the inverter on its own low-voltage or overload protection, the BMS on overcurrent, or an overcurrent device in between. Check the battery voltage at the inverter's terminals while the load is applied — if it is well below the voltage at the bank, the conductor is dropping voltage under load and the inverter is protecting correctly. How do I fix a battery monitor reading the wrong state of charge?
Correct it by checking the three things that make a shunt monitor wrong: a load or charge source connected on the battery side of the shunt, a configured capacity that does not match the bank, or a bank that never reaches a full charge to resynchronise. Check the belt and its tension, the alternator's output at its own terminal with the engine running, the field or regulator connection, and any DC-DC charger between the alternator and the bank. On a lithium installation, add one more check: whether the DC-DC charger's ignition signal is present, because a missing engine-run signal produces a unit that looks powered and does nothing. How do I tell if a lithium battery has actually lost capacity?
Measure it: charge the bank fully, then discharge it at a consistent, moderate rate to a consistent low point while recording amp-hours delivered on a shunt. Compare against the rated capacity and against your own earlier measurements. How do I handle a battery that is swollen, damaged or wet?

Trace it by switching everything off at the panel and watching the shunt's current reading, then restoring circuits one at a time and noting which one moves the number.
