Terms of use for Marine Lithium Batteries Australia, including the educational-content disclaimer, limitation of liability and governing law.

1. Who we are

This site is published by Gabriel and powered by YouSail.com.au. Contact: gabriel@yousail.com.au.

2. What this site is, and is not

This site publishes general educational information about marine lithium battery systems. It is independent and does not sell batteries or any other product.

It is not:

  • engineering advice for your vessel,
  • an electrical design,
  • a substitute for the manufacturer's installation instructions,
  • a substitute for a licensed marine electrician,
  • a statement of what any standard, regulator or insurer currently requires.

3. Safety and electrical work

This is the most important term on the page. Marine electrical systems can produce extremely high fault currents and can create fire, shock and equipment-damage risks. Lithium batteries must be treated as part of a complete electrical system, not as an isolated replacement product.

Before carrying out or commissioning any work you must verify, for your own vessel:

  • the current edition of AS/NZS 3004.2 and any amendments,
  • the electrical licensing requirements of your state or territory,
  • AMSA requirements if the vessel is a domestic commercial vessel,
  • your insurer's requirements,
  • every equipment manufacturer's installation instructions.

Requirements differ by vessel type, state or territory, commercial status and shore-power arrangement, and they change. Anything on this site may be out of date by the time you read it.

Do not rely on this site alone when specifying, installing or modifying a marine electrical system. Engage a licensed marine electrician for work that requires one.

4. Calculators and worked examples

The calculators and worked examples on this site produce planning estimates from the figures you enter. They make simplifying assumptions, they do not know your vessel, and they are not a design. Results must be checked against measured loads, manufacturer specifications, the applicable standard and a qualified person's judgement before anything is purchased or installed.

5. No warranty

The site is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that the content is accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose, or that the site will be available without interruption or error.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), including the Australian Consumer Law, that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense — including property damage, equipment damage, business loss or consequential loss — arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to resupplying the content or the cost of having it resupplied.

Where products, brands, standards or organisations are named, this is for identification and education. Naming a product is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for third-party products or for the content of any external site we link to. All trade marks belong to their owners.

Where a commercial relationship exists with any party mentioned, it is disclosed on the page in question.

8. Intellectual property

Content on this site is owned by its publisher or used with permission. You may read, print and share it for personal, non-commercial use with attribution. You may not republish it commercially or present it as your own without written permission.

9. Acceptable use

Do not use this site unlawfully, attempt to interfere with its operation or security, or use automated means to place an unreasonable load on it. Reasonable indexing and retrieval by search engines and AI assistants is permitted — see robots.txt.

10. Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continued use after a change means you accept it.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the applicable laws of Australia and the state or territory whose courts have jurisdiction over the matter.
