Will a marine surveyor inspect a lithium system?

Are recreational and commercial lithium requirements the same?
No. A domestic commercial vessel operates under a different regulatory framework, including AMSA and NSCV requirements. Recreational owners should still follow applicable Australian standards and competent marine electrical practice.
How do I know if a lithium battery brand has real Australian support?

Is a 10-year lithium warranty automatically better?
Not necessarily. Read capacity-retention thresholds, cycle limits, registration requirements, installation conditions, transferability, exclusions and who actually handles warranty claims in Australia.
Should I buy a battery with Bluetooth?
Bluetooth can be useful for diagnostics and cell data, but it should not be the primary reason to choose a battery. BMS quality, current rating, environmental suitability, documentation, warranty and service support matter more.
How do I compare two marine lithium batteries fairly?
Compare usable energy, continuous and surge current, maximum charge current, BMS features, low-temperature protection, IP rating, parallel or series limits, communications, certifications, warranty terms, Australian support, dimensions and weight.
Why is price per Ah a bad comparison?
Ah ignores system voltage, usable energy, BMS current, warranty, environmental rating and support. Compare dollars per usable kWh only as one part of a broader technical comparison.
Should I buy the cheapest marine lithium battery?
Price matters, but a boat is a harsh environment and failures can be difficult offshore. Evaluate documentation, cell and BMS quality, protection behaviour, warranty support and whether the battery is suitable for the planned current and installation environment.
